Judy serves AvoLead clients seeking to increase individual and organizational performance through executive assessment and coaching. A practicing psychologist, Judy has a particular affinity for–and skill in–executive coaching. This skill set makes her uniquely adept at providing feedback that helps clients gain the understanding and self-awareness necessary to achieve quick and significant improvements in personal and professional effectiveness.

Her expertise working with individuals contributes directly to her effectiveness in organizational design and development, particularly in the areas of change management and succession planning. She has developed custom change-management and change-leadership programs for several large client organizations and is certified to administer Lominger Voices and Career Architect©, WorkPlace BigFive Profile™, and Benchmarks.

As the Principal of The Pliner Group LLC since 1998, Judy has served a diverse group of clients in multiple industries including financial services, health care, public utilities, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and higher education. In addition to leading the Pliner Group, Judy provides executive coaching services for clients of the Center for Creative Leadership, where she is an adjunct staff member. One of the proudest accomplishments of her career is the assistance she provided a long-standing client that resulted in the seamless and highly successful selection, development and transfer of power from the company’s 30-year CEO/founder to his successor.

Before forming her own consultancy, Judy gained invaluable experience as a member of management and consultant teams at two esteemed international consulting firms.
As a line manager in both organizations, Judy had P&L responsibility, laying the foundation for Judy’s strong business acumen and adding to her credibility with the line executives she coaches.

A Board Certified Coach (BCC), Judy earned both her BA in Psychology and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently licensed as a psychologist in both North Carolina and Colorado.

She and her family live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she is active in the community and helps to administer a need-based educational scholarship fund for young women who have strong leadership potential. She is a dedicated student of dressage, a disciplined style of horseback riding and training. To recharge her batteries, Judy loves hiking the beautiful mountain trails of North Carolina and Colorado.
