Joe’s focus is to improve the performance of organizations, teams and individual leaders. His coaching style is characterized by an appreciation for personal, interpersonal and business issues as he helps clients understand the context within which they work and recognize their role in creating that environment. Joe has particular expertise in team building, conflict management, emotional intelligence, optimism and work-life balance.

With over 20 years of experience in the practice of psychology, Joe serves as an executive coach, classroom instructor and group facilitator. A Senior Instructor on the faculty of the Eckerd College Leadership Development Institute (LDI) in St. Petersburg, FL, he currently owns his own consulting business there. He is also affiliated with the Center for Creative Leadership and the Western Management Development Center. Joe has coached senior executives at Smith & Nephew, Retail Business Development, Merrill Lynch, Leadership St. Pete and the St. Petersburg Police Department. Through his relationship with LDI, he has worked with Marsh Inc., Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Entergy Corporation, New York/Penn Baseball League, American Heart Association, Tech Data and the law firms of King & Spalding and Drinker Biddle & Reath.

Joe is the consulting team psychologist for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, an approved provider of clinical services for the NFL and, since 2004, facilitator for the NFL Rookie Symposium. He recently appeared on ESPN in the NFL Films Presents series entitled “Mind Games” and “Letters & Dreams.”

After receiving his undergraduate degree in psychology from Fairfield University, Joe earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Nova University. He completed a post doctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and is qualified to use and interpret the Leadership Versatility Index (LVI), Test of Attentional and Interpersonal Style (TAIS), Kirton Adaptation Innovation Inventory (KAI), Conflict Dynamics Profile® (CDP), Decision Style Profile® and Realise2 assessment tools, among others. He is a Paper Planes, Inc.® certified facilitator.

Committed to programs that benefit his community, Joe was responsible for bringing the National Youth Sports Program to Eckerd College. During his tenure as program leader, it won four national awards. He is a member of the St. Petersburg Sports Alliance and serves on the East West Shrine Game Committee. Joe is married to Alessandra and they have two children, Anna Maria and Francesca.
